Context
A primary or secondary teacher who, at the start of the second semester or fall term, needs to compare what they planned for the year against what they actually managed to cover in the first half. Useful both for reorganizing their own classes through to the end of the year and for presenting a formal adjustment to their academic or curriculum coordinator.

## 2. Prioritization
**Essential:** LO 3 (pending portion), LO 4, LO 5, and LO 6. LO 4 introduces energy flow that reappears in the following year. LO 5 is foundational for the nervous and immune systems in the next grade.
**Reducible:** LO 7 (keep the core: force as the cause of change in motion; reduce calculations). LO 8 (keep the distinction between physical/chemical change; narrow property classification).

## 4. Recovery strategies
**Strategy 1 — Integrated teaching LO 3 + LO 4:** Use food webs as the descriptive lens for aquatic ecosystems from the first August class, instead of completing LO 3 fully before touching LO 4. Estimated saving: 4–5 hours compared to teaching them in separate blocks.
**Strategy 2 — Science Fair as summative assessment for LO 5 + LO 6:** Each group picks a body system and investigates how a dietary habit affects it. Preparation weeks become genuine curriculum time; the fair grade replaces a separate summative test.
**Strategy 3 — Biweekly cumulative concept map:** Every two weeks, 30 minutes to update a shared map on the board connecting all LOs covered. Reduces activation time for new units and organically prepares the October diagnostic without additional review lessons.
Watch out for
- The model may suggest dropping LOs that are prerequisites for the next grade level according to your curriculum framework. Before accepting that recommendation, cross-check it against your curriculum authority's official vertical progression resources.
- If your plan is very extensive, the model may group or simplify LOs incorrectly. Verify that the codes or names in the diagnostic table match exactly those in your original plan.
- Do not include individual grades from the first semester or the performance of specific students in the prompt: they do not contribute to curriculum prioritization and involve data that must remain within the school under applicable student privacy laws.
Suggested iteration
