AI for education - advanced

Explore advanced AI applications in education, including programming, APIs, and AI agents.

About the course
This advanced course explores future applications of AI in education, introduces AI programming, teaches how to connect directly with AI models through APIs, and delves into the concept of AI agents. Participants will learn to create productivity applications, use AI APIs, and expand the capabilities of AI models to enhance the educational experience.
How it works
You will join a group of 2 to 5 colleagues, and as a group, you will meet 4 times, either in person or online, at a time you all agree on.
Join a circle
Organize your study group with colleagues during the match period.
Agree on a schedule
Decide the most convenient time for your sessions, online or in person.
Join and collaborate
When the session arrives, connect with your colleagues and complete the activities together.
What's included
Requirements
- Have completed a basic AI course that includes "prompt engineering"
- Interest in software development that uses AI as an engine
- Tolerance for frustration (things won't always work the first time)
- Availability to participate in session 0, tutorials, and peer sessions
Course syllabus
Session 1: GPT as a programming assistant
- • Use AI as a programming assistant to create a productivity application with Google Apps Script (GAS)
Session 2: Direct connection to GPT
- • Connect to AI models via API to improve the GAS application and understand how APIs work
Session 3: Feedback for everyone with AI
- • Develop functions to automate chain actions, such as giving feedback to all students with the same prompt
Session 4: Connection with Gmail and AI agents
- • Learn to chain AI actions, make models talk to each other, and expand the capabilities of AI models

How Circles Makes the Best Teacher Training Accessible
Circles Learning announces the launch of their new educational platform connecting world-class experts with K-12 teachers through specialized courses. The platform enables educators to form "circles" of 2-5 colleagues to access elite training through flexible weekly meetings, breaking down traditional barriers of cost, geography, and time that limited access to high-quality professional development workshops.

TeachView: AI-Powered Classroom Observation for the Modern Teacher
TeachView is an AI-powered classroom observation tool that allows teachers to easily record their lessons using just a smartphone. The system provides interactive transcripts, visual timelines of speaking patterns, and AI analysis of teaching moments. Teachers can search for specific instructional practices, while school leaders can use customizable observation protocols aligned with their priorities. TeachView aims to transform classroom observation from a rare, stressful event into a regular, empowering practice, especially when combined with Circles Learning's collaborative professional development communities, ultimately freeing up time for meaningful conversations about teaching and learning.

The Evolution of Classroom Observation: From Human Eyes to Artificial Intelligence
Traditional classroom observation is infrequent and often anxiety-inducing for teachers. Technology has evolved from basic video recording to AI-powered systems that can now analyze both audio and visual aspects of teaching. This evolution includes systems like Swivl for automated recording and TeachFX for analyzing classroom talk patterns. Recent advances in AI have democratized these technologies, making high-quality feedback accessible to all teachers regardless of school resources. The ultimate goal is transforming observation from an evaluative process to a supportive one that fosters continuous professional growth.
